Art & Tech for a Cause

Ha Įlè is a fine art project that honors indigenous heritage and reflects on our past, present and future connection to the land we inhabit.

Looking to the past and drawing inspiration from the ancient Indigenous cave paintings and petroglyphs found in the Pecos valley, myself and Casey Koyzcan Canadian-based First Nations artist, hoped to bring a lost world into the present.

The hummingbird has special meaning to both Casey, myself and to North Americas past and present. This shared iconography is intended to create new dialogue between the Canadian Government, City of Dallas, Texas, local tribes and anyone who has enjoyed the yearly migrations and natural beauty. 

Ha Įlè was installed at various locations throughout the City of Dallas, Texas, which is situated on ancestral lands of several Native American tribes, including the Wichita, Caddo, Comanche, Cherokee, Kickapoo, and Tawakoni peoples. The Caddo tribe comprised of two dozen related peoples; one of which, the Anadarko, was the most notable group to call the region around Dallas home. We also acknowledge all of the Indigenous people whose names we don’t know anymore. We honor, revere and respect those who were stewards of this land long before we made it our home.
